Our process
Estate planning matters often stall when no one is responsible for moving them forward. Our dedicated team monitors each stage of the process, follows up on outstanding items, coordinates meetings, and keeps the matter progressing toward completion. We usually deliver a completed estate plan within 4-6 weeks, provided we receive the necessary information and decisions from the client.
Streamlined, responsive and fully comprehensive
Our estate planning process is both efficient and deeply personalized. Our team is organized, our communications are clear, and we carefully manage your experience from beginning to end. We respond to client communications within a few business hours, keep every matter moving forward, and complete most estate plans within approximately one month. 5 steps to
peace of mind
-
We always start with a complimentary consultation. We learn about your family, assets, concerns, and planning goals, and determine which of our planning packages best fits your needs. After the consultation, you will receive a clear explanation of the recommended package, what it includes, and what it costs before you decide whether to proceed.
-
We use a comprehensive questionnaire to streamline your intake and deepen our understanding of your family, assets, existing documents, and intended decision-makers.
We review the information you provide carefully, identify areas requiring discussion, and make sure important issues are not overlooked simply because you did not know to ask about them.
We counsel you about the full range of decisions that may affect you and your family, including appointing trusted executors, trustees, guardians, and other fiduciary roles.
And we document strategies for protecting and distributing your financial and physical assets; managing your care and planning for the care of loved ones; and safeguarding your digital profiles, assets, and belongings.
-
Once the decisions have been made, our team prepares a coordinated set of documents that are designed to work together.
Depending on the selected package, this may include wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care proxies, living wills, HIPAA authorizations, guardian nominations, business succession documents, and related assignments or planning instruments.
We also consider how assets pass outside of the estate planning documents. Real estate ownership, retirement accounts, life insurance, jointly owned property, business interests, and beneficiary designations must be coordinated with the plan for it to work as intended.
-
We guide you through the execution of your documents and supervise the signing process to ensure that the required legal formalities are followed.
The signing meeting is also an opportunity to review the completed plan, understand how the documents function, and clarify what should happen next.
You will leave knowing what you signed, where the documents should be kept, how to prepare your trustees and executors, and how the plan will serve you and your family in an emergency.
-
As your life changes, your estate plan should evolve with it. We will advise you on tax and gift strategies as your earnings increase, and help you plan for incapacity and elder care as your health and family changes.
