Firm overview
About the firm
Founded by Laura Fisher in 2005, Fischer Harbage is an estate and tax planning law firm built for the way people actually live today. With offices in Brooklyn and Manhattan, we serve clients throughout the tri-state area.
Who we work with
Our clients are business owners, high-achieving professionals, and heads of household — people who've built something worth protecting and want a plan as thoughtful as the life they've built. We work with modern families in every sense of the word: married couples, unmarried partners, blended families, multi-generational households, global families with ties across borders, and chosen families who don't fit a standard template but deserve the same protection under the law.
What we do
We don't start with documents. We start by understanding our clients — their family, their assets, their values, and what they’re actually trying to accomplish. The paperwork comes second; the plan comes first.
Our services range from foundational wills and health care directives to sophisticated trust structures, business succession planning, and multi-generational wealth and tax strategy. Whatever stage of life or business you're in, we build a plan that fits — and we stay with you as your life changes.
Package-based fees
We offer flat-fee packages, so clients know the cost upfront — no surprises, no billing by the hour for every phone call. Our process is efficient: most clients have completed documents in hand within a few weeks, not months. And throughout, we bring a compassionate, human-centered approach to what can be genuinely difficult decisions — because planning for your family's future should feel like being guided, not processed.

Laura Fischer, Esq.
Founder & principal
Laura founded Fischer Harbage more than two decades ago to protect families through efficient, high-value estate planning and guide them through the process with empathy. Her background in corporate law gave her a strong foundation for the demands of a trusts and estates practice: navigating complex legal matters, managing business interests, and crafting solutions that balance the competing needs within a family.
Laura’s firm handles basic and complex estate planning, tax planning, and probate and administration. She mentors her team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to serve clients with counsel that meets the highest standards of legal work and compassionate care, delivered with a sense of urgency that ensures each matter is completed on time.
Laura began her career in a corporate setting as a patent attorney specializing in molecular biology and microbiology. She is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the patent bar. She studied mediation at the Peace Institute in New York City and trained in the Civil Court of Brooklyn.
The same care that drives Laura's legal work extends well beyond it. A longstanding interest in integrative health and spirituality led her to study Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and to earn certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. It's a whole-person perspective that shapes how she counsels her clients — treating estate planning not as paperwork, but as one of the most caring things families can do for one another. She lives with her two children and two dogs in Brooklyn.
