About the role
We are seeking an estate planning and administration paralegal to help our attorneys guide clients through the planning process and support families during probate and estate administration. This role offers hands-on responsibility, close collaboration with experienced attorneys, and the opportunity to deepen your skills across a varied trusts and estates practice.
Your work may include drafting estate-planning documents; preparing deeds and funding revocable trusts, including transfers of cooperative apartments; preparing probate and administration filings; and assisting with estate accountings, tax filings, and settlement documents. You do not need experience in every area. We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in at least one aspect of trusts and estates practice who is organized, careful, responsive, and eager to grow with the firm.
Responsibilities
We are looking for someone with experience in one or more of the following areas:
Drafting estate-planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives
Preparing and filing deeds and related transfer documents
Funding revocable trusts, including the transfer of cooperative apartments
Preparing estate or fiduciary tax filings
Preparing estate accountings, receipts, releases, and related settlement documents
Preparing New York estate tax filings, including ET-706 and related documentation
Preparing probate and administration petitions, including NCIFs and other Surrogate’s Court filings
Managing probate and estate-administration matters from commencement through closing
Candidates do not need experience in every area listed above. We are interested in applicants with a strong foundation in estate planning, trust funding, probate, or estate administration who are organized, careful, responsive, and interested in expanding their skill
What we're looking for
Prior experience working in a trusts and estates practice
Excellent drafting, proofreading, and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail and follow-through
The ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
A professional and compassionate approach to clients
Familiarity with New York Surrogate’s Court procedures and filings is strongly preferred
Compensation & benefits
$60,000–$100,000 annually, depending on experience and demonstrated capabilities.
