Legal assistant

About the role 

We are seeking a legal assistant to support our attorneys throughout the estate planning process, from a client’s first conversation with the firm through the signing of their documents. This role combines client communication, document preparation, and day-to-day coordination across our Brooklyn and Manhattan offices and virtual meetings.

Your work will include initially framing estate, trust, and related documents; assisting with revisions, formatting, and final preparation for signings; and helping prepare deeds and title orders for clients funding trusts. You will also prepare engagement and closing letters, assist attorneys with meeting briefs, maintain the client database and calendars, coordinate onboarding and scheduling, and handle general invoicing and accounting tasks.

We are looking for someone who is organized, careful with details, responsive to clients, and comfortable keeping several matters moving at once.


Responsibilities

  • Initial framing of estate, trust, and ancillary documents

  • Assisting with revisions, formatting, and final preparation of planning documents for signings

  • Assisting in the preparation of deeds and title orders for trust funding clients

  • Preparation of engagement and closing letters

  • Assisting attorneys with meeting briefs

  • Client database management

  • Client onboarding and communication

  • Calendar maintenance and scheduling for Brooklyn, Manhattan, and virtual meetings

  • General accounting and invoicing


What we're looking for 

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail

  • Proactive self-starter able to work diligently with minimal supervision

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to handle increasing responsibilities and shifting demands

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional office environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications

  • Trust and Estates experience (strongly preferred)


Compensation & benefits 

Expected salary range: $40,000–$70,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Performance-based bonuses available.
