Laura J. Fischer, Esq.

Founder & Principal

Laura founded Fischer Harbage more than two decades ago to protect families through efficient, high-value estate planning and guide them through the process with empathy. Her background in corporate law gave her a strong foundation for the demands of a trusts and estates practice: navigating complex legal matters, managing business interests, and crafting solutions that balance the competing needs within a family.

Laura’s firm handles basic and complex estate planning, tax planning, and probate and administration. She mentors her team of attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to serve clients with counsel that meets the highest standards of legal work and compassionate care, delivered with a sense of urgency that ensures each matter is completed on time.

Laura began her career in a corporate setting as a patent attorney specializing in molecular biology and microbiology. She is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the patent bar. She studied mediation at the Peace Institute in New York City and trained in the Civil Court of Brooklyn.

The same care that drives Laura's legal work extends well beyond it. A longstanding interest in integrative health and spirituality led her to study Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and to earn certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. It's a whole-person perspective that shapes how she counsels her clients — treating estate planning not as paperwork, but as one of the most caring things families can do for one another. She lives with her two children and two dogs in Brooklyn.
